Glad you like it! The original line I recall from my days in school so long ago, but it always stuck in my head since it screamed Kirk to me and I finally managed to figure out away to put the two together in something that fit. Even the crooked smile on his face just screams the whole idea of the statement to me. So I'm thrilled you also are enjoying it!

I think that's what I like the best about Kirk. He has the moments of flaunting how human he is, especially in these little boy moment or the times of contending with greater universal struggles whilst trying to connect with certain people....and then he seems to maintain this total wall of not wanting anyone getting to know him too deep. He's human but he doesn't want you to know how human he is. Which makes him seem more vulnerable in some ways. But now I'm blathering again!

Exactly! He lets you know that he feels, but not how much he feels, because he still has his captain role to keep in place. That makes him seem more vulnerable indeed, because he is all alone in concealing that deeper level of humanity. No blathering, just fair words!
